Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship

Teaching Assistants support the class teacher to enhance learners’ progress by ensuring that learners understand their work, know their learning objectives, and display positive learning behaviours in order to make progress. They deliver individual and small group teaching and apply a range of strategies to support learners of different abilities under the professional direction and supervision of a qualified teacher.

Become a Teaching Assistant apprentice and learn and gain the valuable training and experiences whilst working to become a qualified Teaching Assistant.

Programme start: January 2026

Length of programme: 12 – 15 months.

Programme modules:

  • Professionalism and Communication
  • Pastoral
  • Curriculum
  • Delivery (Pedagogy) and Assessment

The benefits of this apprenticeship to schools are:

  • It is fully funded to the amount of £7000 by the apprenticeship levy, so schools can access high quality training for free.
  • It’s an opportunity to upskill your support staff team and provide them with the knowledge and skills to take the next steps in their career.
  • Some training is delivered in a combination of 5 face to face and 5 twilight sessions, but the majority has been organised so they can engage with the work they're already doing and use this as evidence.
  • TAs are trained on pedagogy, assessment and curriculum which helps them engage with classroom content and support students at a higher level.
